Arunachal: Hangpan Dada Museum unveiled in Tirap district

Borduria: The Commander of 25 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier Swarn Singh, on Monday inaugurated the Hangpan Dada museum in Borduria in Tirap district.

The inauguration took place in presence of Chasen Dada, wife of Havildar late Hangpan Dada, Ashok Chakra (posthumous).

Havildar Hangpan Dada’s unwavering dedication to the nation during his service in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir led to the thwarting of a major infiltration attempt and the prevention of hostile activities in the region.

His extraordinary bravery not only saved lives but also set a shining example of patriotism for future generations.

The museum stands as a testament to Dada’s selfless service and aims to showcase his courageous act, and inspire the youth to uphold the spirit of devotion to the country.

The museum’s design, concept and curation has been done by the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Public Works Department.

A wreath-laying ceremony was also organized honouring the memory of the brave soldier whose legacy continues to inspire the local community.

Residents of Borduria expressed their appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Assam Rifles and the PWD, which resulted in the establishment of the museum, a cherished monument that symbolizes the indomitable spirit and pride of the region.

Rifleman Babu Rao Bongu honored:

Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles, on Monday also inaugurated a dedicated road segment in Khonsa town, Tirap district, to honor the late Rifleman Babu Rao Bongu.

Late Rifleman Bongu, a valiant member of the Assam Rifles, made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his motherland while stationed at Sanliam in Tirap district.

His unwavering bravery and dedication thwarted a significant infiltration attempt by the NSCN (IM).

Tragically, Rifleman Bongu lost his life on October, 21, 2020, during an operation triggered by credible intelligence indicating the presence of 20 armed cadres in the border village of Sanliam.

While scouring the area, this courageous soldier discovered the presence of these anti-national elements, leading to a fierce gunfight in which he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

He later succumbed to his injuries. However, his valorous actions successfully foiled the infiltration attempt by the proscribed group.

Among others, Borduria zilla parishad member Chakhin Sarah Wanglat, Tirap SP Rahul Gupta, 6 Assam Rifles commanding officer Colonel Aman Ahluwalia, 36th Battalion CRPF second-in-command L Kipgen, Lazu EAC DK Thungdok, Borduria circle officer Lim Modi, panchayat leaders, gaon buras and the general public were present on the occasion.
