Namsai: In a bid to give the unsung heroes of the state their due recognition, the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to establish a state-of-the-art museum in the state.
The government has also decided to construct war memorials to preserve and protect the existing war sites across the state and propose making the Arunachalee freedom fighters a part of the national museum in Gujarat.
The decisions were taken in a meeting of the Core Committee for Unsung Heroes on Saturday.
The meeting chaired by deputy chief minister Chowna Mein was held at the district secretariat here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mein said the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has given Arunachal a good opportunity to write its own history.
He advocated for setting up a research shell in the Rajiv Gandhi University through which they can conduct research on various aspects of the state.
Following detailed discussion, the committee further decided to organize a 15-day festival later this year to celebrate the unsung heroes.
Theatre shows, exhibitions, literary and cultural activities on unsung heroes would be a part of the festival.
The meeting also resolved to convert the Siddharth Hall in state capital Itanagar into a state-of-the-art theatre while giving it an indigenous touch.
It was informed that a sum of Rs 8 crore has already been announced in the Budget 2022-23 for the same.
Among others, advisor to chief minister Tai Tagak, Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, transport secretary Dani Salu, Namsai deputy commissioner R K Sharma, RGU pro-vice-chancellor Prof Amitava Mitra and National School of Drama assistant professor Riken Ngomle were present in the meeting.
