Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Saturday said that Arunachal Pradesh is steadily moving towards women empowerment.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the ‘Fra ‘O’ Khamti Kitchen & Catering’, a Tai Khamti restaurant at Ganga here, Mein said he is elated to see many women entrepreneurs coming up with their start-ups and businesses across the state. “Our women are taking the lead by selling finished handloom and handicraft products, local vegetables and other food products through self help groups (SHGs) or by opening shops and restaurants. We should encourage such initiatives taken by our womenfolk,” he said.
The deputy chief minister said that efforts are on to turn the educated youths of the state into job providers from job-seekers.
The government has taken several initiatives in this regard and is providing skill development training besides hand holding the entrepreneurs through innovation and investment parks, Mein said.
He also said that the government is implementing schemes such as Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swalamban Yojana, CM’s District Innovation Scheme and various other schemes under Atma Nirbhar Yojana in the agri and allied sectors for the upliftment of rural economy and to make the people self-reliant.
Mein also extended his best wishes to Fra ‘O’ Khamti Kitchen & Catering proprietor Nang Khalina Longchat and her associates.
The restaurant will exclusively provide food and catering services of Tai-Khamti cuisines, one of the most fascinating tribal foods of the state.
Tai-Khamti cuisines are popular due its taste and aroma while the food is normally decorated with home grown and locally discovered spices.
Among others, advisor to power minister Balo Raja, advisor to land management minister Jummum Ete Deori, finance secretary YW Ringu and urban development and housing secretary Mitali Namchoom were present on the occasion.
