Itanagar: In a move aimed at fortifying its ranks for the forthcoming 2024 general elections, the state Bharatiya Janata Party‘s (BJP) division underwent a minor but impactful reshuffle of its state office bearers and state morchas presidents.
The reshuffle, executed under the stewardship of state president Biyuram Wahge saw the appointment of key party members to strategic roles. The decisions were officially ratified by the central BJP office in New Delhi.
Among the notable appointments, Tadar Niglar has been designated as the state general secretary, while Romin Babom and Dotum Sora have been entrusted with the roles of state secretaries.
These appointments, in line with the party’s vision, have been greenlit by the central BJP office, the party said in a statement.
In a comprehensive overhaul that underscores the party’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, several state morcha presidents have been named.
While Kohman Lungphii Ngemu has been chosen to lead the Mahila Morcha as state president, Ritemso Manyu assumes the mantle of state president of Yuva Morcha, and Gumsen Lollen has been tasked with the responsibilities of state president of Kisan Morcha.
Kame Yangfo is at the helm as state president of ST Morcha while Sambu Siongju has taken up the mantle of state president of Minority Morcha.
These designations were accorded the stamp of approval from the central BJP office.
The formal transfer of responsibilities for the state president of Minority Morcha was conducted in a ceremonial event held at the state BJP headquarters here on Thursday.
Amid the presence of Sangathan Maha Mantri, Ananta Narayan Mishra, along with office bearers of the Minority Morcha and dedicated party workers, Pema Ngawang, the outgoing president, formally handed over his duties to Sambu Siongju, the newly inducted state president of Minority Morcha.
In his address, Mishra extended heartfelt congratulations to Siongju on his new role and rallied all party volunteers to redouble their commitment to the party’s growth.
Mishra underlined Siongju’s extensive experience, including his three-term tenure as district president of BJP West Kameng from 2010 to 2019, and his candidacy as an MLA on the BJP ticket in 2009.
Mishra expressed confidence that Sambu’s leadership would invigorate the Minority Morcha’s contributions to the party’s goals in the state.
Siongju, now at the forefront of the Minority Morcha, expressed deep gratitude to state president Wahge and senior party members for reposing faith in him.
Siongju underscored the BJP’s ideological foundations and its pivotal role in national progress. He commended the comprehensive developmental initiatives spearheaded by the Narendra Modi-led government and took pride in being a member of the BJP, emphasizing the party’s ethos of prioritizing the nation, party, and self.
Siongju passionately appealed to all volunteers to extend their full support in fortifying the Minority Morcha, hinting at the impending formation of a dynamic new team.
Former state president of Minority Morcha, Ngawang, also conveyed his warmest congratulations to Siongju for his new role.
Ngawang expressed gratitude towards state office bearers, district and Mandal office bearers, for their unwavering dedication during his tenure.
He profusely thanked Wahge and other senior party leaders for affording him the privilege of service, assuring his continued allegiance to the party’s cause.
The event also saw speeches delivered by key figures including state vice-president Nabam Kojum, general secretary Taju Pade and Tai Yangki Kipa.
