Itanagar: The state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is trying to give a ‘political colour’ to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) assistant engineer (civil) question paper leak issue.
“The state Congress is trying to politicalize the issue by blaming the state government of having a casual approach and trying to protect corrupt officers involved in the paper leakage case. We condemn all such allegations made by the APPCC and appeal to the party to refrain from giving the issue a political colour,” state BJP spokesperson Dr Mohesh Chai said.
Addressing a news conference at the Press Club here, Chai said it was under the Congress rule that the state witnessed many corruption cases.
“Therefore, it will not be wrong to say that the corruption happening today is gifted by the Congress party,” he said.
He said that the state government under the leadership of chief minister Pema Khandu is “very serious” about solving the issue at the earliest, and that the government acted on its own to order the arrest of a high level officer, highlighting the arrest of APPSC deputy secretary Taket Jerang.
“The state government has a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption; therefore, not a single stone will be left unturned. It will deal with “iron hands” against all those individuals found guilty in this case,” he added.
He appealed to aspirants to have faith in the state government and assured that “all the culprits will be thoroughly investigated and punished as per law.”
Meanwhile, state BJP spokesperson Vivek Nabam alleged that the ongoing foot-march to Delhi by the Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) is politically motivated.
He said that all allegations against the chief minister of indulging or promoting corruption in various departments are sub-judice matters.
He also denied the involvement of any BJP worker in the AAC agitation.
Nabam also denied any illegal appointments made in the chief minister’s office and Raj Bhavan as alleged by the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) president Kahfa Bengia recently.
“All appointments have been made by following the recruitment rules,” he said.
