Itanagar: The mortal remains of seven Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector were sent to their native places following a wreath laying ceremony at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday.
“Wreath laying ceremony of Hav Jugal Kishore, Rfn Arun Kattal, Rfn Akshay Pathania, Rfn Vishal Sharma, Rfn Rakesh Singh, Rfn Ankesh Bhardwaj and Gnr (TA) Gurbaj Singh of Indian Army who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty took place at Tezpur Air Force Station,” the said Indian Army said in a tweet on Saturday.
Gajraj Corps General Officer Commanding Lt Gen Ravin Khosla and other military officials paid last respects to the bravehearts.
Thereafter the mortal remains were sent to Akhnoor, Kathua, Khour (Jammu & Kashmir), Dhar Kalan and Batala (Punjab), Bajinath, Kangra and Ghamarwin (Himachal Pradesh), the native places of the martyrs, the army said.
The soldiers were hit by an avalanche on February 06 while they were on a regular patrol at the Chume Gyater area near Yangtse in the Tawang sector.
Their bodies were recovered two days after the incident following a search and rescue operation launched by the Indian Army and local police on February 08.
