Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has expressed profound disappointment in response to “recent statements made by Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) deputy commissioner, Talo Potom, during various public appearances”.
Referring to various statements made by DC Potom (which have gone viral on social media), the APWWS said these statements “are deeply concerning and exhibit signs of sexism, a disposition unbecoming of a public servant in a position of such responsibility”.
“Given his status as an IAS officer, it is imperative for the deputy commissioner to recognize that statements that are irresponsible and inappropriate, and carry undertones of sexism, cannot be excused under the pretense of humor,” APWWS president, Kani Nada Maling, said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We respectfully urge the officer (Potom) to engage in self-reflection regarding his public addresses and take measures to rectify his approach before any further harm is done,” Maling said.
