Itanagar: The Arunachal Electronic and Media Association (AEDMA) celebrated a milestone today as nine additional digital media houses joined the association, enhancing unity within the media community.
The induction event, held at APC, was simple yet impressive, welcoming these new members and bringing AEDMA’s total membership to 25 media houses in the state.
AEDMA vice president, Jack Tayeng, congratulated the newly inducted media houses and shared insights into the association’s history.
He emphasized the vision of AEDMA’s founder president and senior journalist, Late Taro Chatung, who established the association in 2012 to support the welfare of electronic and digital media.
Despite the nascent stage of electronic and digital media at the time, Chatung aimed to unite media professionals to promote quality journalism and foster the growth of the media industry in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Tayeng urged all digital and electronic media organizations to uphold high standards in their work and operate impartially for the development of the media industry and the state.
AEDMA general secretary, Sangge Droma, warmly welcomed the new members and outlined various initiatives undertaken by AEDMA for the welfare of its members.
She highlighted the stringent membership criteria set by AEDMA, which includes proper documentation, office facilities, and adherence to other necessary norms.
Droma also underscored the pivotal role of media houses in society and the importance of guiding on-ground journalists in maintaining ethical standards in their reporting.
Although AEDMA president, Toko Tagam, could not attend the event due to unavoidable circumstances, he extended his best wishes to the new members.
