AEDMA seeks positive media growth in Arunachal

Five new digital media houses were inducted into the AEDMA on the day.

Itanagar: The Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA) has called upon its affiliated members to rededicate themselves towards positive promotion and growth of media in the state.

Addressing journalists and proprietors of various media houses during an induction programme of media houses at the Arunachal Press Club (APC) here, AEDMA president J T Tagam highlighted the need to maintain journalism ethics, quality and refrain from publishing biased and unverified news.

“One of the basic tasks of the media is to provide truthful, accurate and unbiased information to the people. If we don’t maintain these aspects the importance of media in the society may one day diminish,” Tagam said.

The AEDMA president also appealed to all the newly inducted members of AEDMA to follow the laid down norms of the organization as well as that of the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and the APC.

He further said that one can only continue to avail the membership of AEDMA as long as they follow the laid down norms and guidelines which have been crafted for the betterment of the media fraternity.

AEDMA general secretary Sangge Droma informed that the number of affiliated media houses under the association has now increased to 14 with the induction of 5 new media organizations on Monday.

Droma said the five media outlets were selected following proper scrutiny of documents and other verifications in accordance to the AEDMA bye-law.

Earlier, while addressing the event, APC general secretary Damien Lepcha called upon the budding journalists to always be open to criticisms and feedback and take them positively.

“Please be open to feedback as there is always scope for improvement. Also try to learn as much as you can from your seniors and seek their guidance and suggestions wherever required,” he said.

Lepcha also stressed on the need to practice responsible journalism and assured the support of the APC and APUWJ to the young scribes.
