Itanagar: The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has found the Arunachalee youth who had gone “missing” from the Indo-Tibet border in Upper Siang district on January 18.
Speaking to NewsFy, Tezpur Defence PRO Lt Col Harshvardhan Pandey said the Chinese army communicated this information to its Indian counterpart on Sunday.
“We have been told that the missing Arunachalee boy has been found by them (PLA) and due procedure is being followed,” Lt Col Pandey said.
Miram Taron (17), a native of Zido village in Upper Siang district, was allegedly abducted by the PLA on January 18 from the Lungta Jor area near Bishing village in Upper Siang district where he had gone hunting along with his friend Jhonny Yaying (27).
Yaying had reportedly managed to escape the abduction.
Bishing is the last Indian village near the Indo-Tibet border and is located along the left bank of Siang River. The village is around 260 kms from Yingkiong, the headquarters of Upper Siang district.
Arunachal Pradesh Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao also confirmed the information of Taron being found by the PLA.
“I have been informed that the boy has been located by the Chinese army. There has, however, been no communication after that,” Gao said.
Gao had earlier claimed that the youth was abducted from Indian Territory, the claim which has also been supported by the locals.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry had on Thursday said that it was not aware of the incident but stated the PLA controls the borders and cracks down on “illegal entry and exit activities.”
