Likabali: Kardo Nyigyor, a distinguished politician hailing from the small village of Ditten in the Sibe Circle of Lower Siang district, has had a remarkable journey in public service, marked by dedication and leadership across various roles over the decades.
Nyigyor began his political career as the Gram Panchayat Member (GPM) of Ditten Village, serving from 1992 to 1997. His commitment to his community and effective governance led to his election as the Anchal Samity Member (ASM) of Sibe/Ditten/Ossumpuri from 2008 to 2013.
During this period, he also served as the chairperson of the 10-Gensi Anchal Samity, further establishing his reputation as a capable leader.
In 2013, Nyigyor’s growing influence and leadership skills were recognized with his election as the Zila Parishad Member (ZPM) for the 10-Gensi Anchal Samity. He held this position until 2017, demonstrating his ability to address local issues and advocate for his constituents at a higher level of governance.
Ascendancy to the Legislative Assembly
Nyigyor’s political career reached new heights when he was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the 28-Likabali constituency in the 2017 by-polls.
He successfully retained his seat in the 2019 and 2024 elections, demonstrating consistent support and trust from his constituents. His tenure as MLA has been marked by efforts to bring development and progress to the Likabali region.
Senior Leadership in Arunachal Pradesh
After Mechuka MLA PD Sona, Nyigyor is arguably the senior-most MLA from the then undivided West Siang district, reflecting his longstanding service and experience in Arunachal Pradesh’s political landscape.
Presently, he also holds the prestigious position of Chief Patron of the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), where he continues to contribute to the welfare and development of his community.
