Itanagar: Chajo Lowang, a wildlife photographer and documentary filmmaker from Arunachal’s Tirap district, captured the spotlight as a distinguished speaker at the prestigious event “The Act of Doing – Trans-disciplinary Conversations on Pedagogies of Knowledge Making.”
The vibrant gathering, organized by The Third Eye, Nirantar Trust, unfolded on May 17 and 18, at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in New Delhi, offering a dynamic stage for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Dubbed as a unique learning festival, “The Act of Doing” drew together practitioners from a myriad of fields, sparking exchanges with collectives, organizations, groups, and individuals. The event’s essence was to explore the triumphs and hurdles of knowledge building, igniting dialogues that crisscross disciplines and geographies in pursuit of a shared, innovative, and equitable future.
The festival buzzed with discussions led by trailblazers in social work, art, teaching, and research, reflecting on their impactful work with various groups, the efficacy of their methods, and the lively debates and triumphs inherent in knowledge building.
Moreover, they probed the untapped potential for interdisciplinary and cross-geographical collaboration to carve out a common, creative, and just future.
Chajo, a compelling Green Hub fellow, took the audience on a captivating journey, alongside Green Hub founder Rita Banerji.
She offered illuminating glimpses into her ongoing book project, delving into the biodiversity and culture of the Nocte Tribe, a venture she is spearheading with her teammate, Sara Khongsai.
Both Chajo and Sara, as female wildlife photographers, are making waves with their efforts to document the wildlife and cultural heritage of the Nocte Tribe in Tirap district.
The session reverberated with enthusiastic applause from attendees, underscoring the profound significance and impact of Chajo’s work. Beyond her current literary endeavor, Chajo is teaming up with Sara Khongsai, Manisha Kumari, and Yangchen on a captivating film centered on the Women Storytelling Project in Arunachal Pradesh, further enriching the preservation and celebration of the region’s vibrant cultural narratives.
