Rono Hills: The Rajiv Gandhi University Teachers’ Association (RGUTA) and the Rajiv Gandhi University Employees’ Association (RGUEA) have voiced their unanimous support for a fresh appointment of vice-chancellor at the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here.
This decision comes in the wake of the impending expiration of the tenure of the current vice-chancellor, Prof Saket Kushwaha, on October 03 next.
The issue of appointing a new vice-chancellor gained momentum following the official advertisement released on September 26, 2023, soliciting applications for the position. With the clock ticking on Prof Kushwaha’s tenure, the RGUTA and RGUEA have asserted that a prompt transition is imperative.
According to administrative protocols, in the absence of a vice-chancellor, the senior-most professor at the university is designated as the VC in-charge. However, the transfer of office responsibilities has not yet been initiated, causing growing apprehension among the RGU community, the associations said in a press release.
Expressing their concern over the delay in the transition process, both the RGUTA and RGUEA have jointly announced their plans for an indefinite non-cooperation movement commencing on October 4, if the matter is not resolved promptly.
