Gumjum Haider secures unopposed re-election as president of Hockey Arunachal

Itanagar: State Information Commissioner, Gumjum Haider, has been re-elected as the President of Hockey Arunachal Pradesh. The announcement was made by former sessions judge and former SIC, Goto Ete, who presided as the returning officer for the elections.

Sonam Tenzing and Hillang Nima have been chosen as secretary and treasurer of the association, respectively, as they commence another tenure of four years alongside Haider.

The electoral process garnered the participation of distinguished observers.

Tapan Kumar Das, a board member of Hockey India, was present as the national observer representing the apex body for hockey in India. Furthermore, Boni Liruk, the representative of the director of the Sports Authority of Arunachal, attended as the state observer on behalf of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a smooth and unopposed succession, Goto Ete declared Pinge Doji as the senior vice-resident, while Gona Niji, Techi Depung, Thomas Dakpe and Ajay Matem were appointed vice- presidents, securing their roles without opposition.

Strengthening the administrative framework, Issaac Nabum, Api Pale, and Tallo Api have been elected unopposed as joint secretaries, ensuring a collaborative approach to the management of hockey affairs in the region.

Likha Tebin assumes the role of an executive member, contributing to the collective efforts aimed at advancing the sport.

“The re-election of Gumjum Haider and the newly constituted executive team reflect an unwavering commitment to nurturing the growth of hockey in the region. With a fusion of experience and novel perspectives, Hockey Arunachal Pradesh is poised to make significant strides during the forthcoming four years,” a statement from the association said.
