Life-Giving Act: AEDMA celebrates foundation day with blood donation camp

Itanagar: The Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA) organized a daylong voluntary blood donation camp at the Rama Krishna Mission Hospital here on Monday.

The theme of the camp, organized as a part of the AEDMA’s 11th foundation day was ‘Give blood-Give life’.

The event saw an enthusiastic response, with over 50 people registering for blood donation. Approximately 20 units of blood were successfully collected during the camp.

Addressing media persons AEDMA president, JT Tagam, emphasized the camp’s significance and termed it as a gesture of giving back to society.

“Though more than 50 individuals participated in the camp, some could not donate blood due to various reasons such as high and low blood pressure, low hemoglobin levels, and other health concerns,” he informed.

Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) general secretary, Sonam Jelly, praised AEDMA’s efforts in organizing such camps for social causes, acknowledging that they strengthen the bond between the media and the public.

“Donating blood not only fills us with pride but also gives a sense of purpose in life,” he said.

Jelly stressed that the act of donating blood not only brings joy to the giver but also has a life-changing impact on the receiver. Additionally, it signifies the donor’s good health and well-being, he said.

Reigning Miss Arunachal, Nadek Nabam, who was also a part of the camp said that donating blood not only benefits the recipient but also brings positive outcomes for the donor.

She encouraged the public to participate in such noble events and extend a helping hand to those in need.

The blood donation camp is part of the upcoming foundation day celebrations of AEDMA which is scheduled for July 29. Alongside this initiative, the association had previously organized sports events aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among the journalists in the state.

The association also plans to organize a media conclave focusing on the theme, ‘Digital Media as a Catalyst for Social Change’ which is expected to witness the participation of journalists from all forms of media, be it digital, electronic, or print.

The conclave will be organised in collaboration with the department of information and public relations.
