Itanagar: Haryana legislative assembly deputy speaker Ranbir Singh Gangwa, who is on an official tour of Arunachal Pradesh, visited the state legislative assembly secretariat here on Friday.
Gangwa and his team of officers along with Mullana, Haryana MLA Varun Chaudhry are in the state capital, to gather first-hand information about the National e-Vidhan (NeVA) project.
National e-Vidhan is a device-neutral and member-centric application created to equip the handler with information regarding the Assembly.
The Arunachal Assembly is the first in the northeast and third in the country to have successfully implemented the ambitious project.
With the help of the application, the members can use their tablets/laptops to see the list of businesses, read questions and other documents pertaining to House proceedings.
The ministry of parliamentary affairs is the nodal ministry for the project.
Earlier, state legislative assembly speaker Pasang D Sona and state legislative assembly secretary Kago Habung received Gangwa and his team at the Assembly and felicitated them with traditional scarves and gifts.
During an interaction that followed later, Sona and Gangwa discussed at length on the NeVA project and other matters related to regional cooperation.
Highlighting the benefits of e-Vidhan project, Sona said that the paperless project not only is helping the Assembly proceedings efficiently but also reduces environmental hazards due to use of papers.
The Speaker also informed that a paper Recycling Unit has been installed at the Assembly complex to re-use waste papers.
Appreciating Sona for successfully implementing the NeVA project, Gangwa sought necessary guidance of the Arunachal Assembly for the project’s implementation in the Haryana Assembly building.
“We have come here to learn from you as we are also planning to make our Assembly paperless,” the Haryana deputy speaker said.
The visiting guests later took a tour of the assembly complex during which they visited the Assembly Library, Dorjee Khandu Auditorium, NeVA Centre, the main assembly hall and the newly inaugurated paper recycling unit.
They also had hands-on experience on the functioning of e-Vidhan application.
