ITANAGAR: Duda Sora, currently serving as a head teacher of the APP Complex Government Upper Primary School in Aalo, West Siang district has been selected for the National Teachers Awards 2021 by the Union Ministry of Education.
Sora (56) is among the 44 meritorious teachers who would receive the prestigious award from President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of Teacher’s Day on September 05.
A native of Taba Sora Village in West Siang district, Sora has been serving as a government teacher for 34 years.
He was posted as the head teacher of the APP Complex Government Upper Primary School around two and a half years ago.
Speaking to NewsFy, Sora said he was elated to hear news of his selection for the coveted award.
“After being selected at the district level on my performance based on the annual report, I was recently interviewed online by a jury of the education ministry. They asked me several questions regarding the education sector of the state and I also presented my report on the same,” he said.
Sora thanked his well wishers, especially his students for their support.
“I consider all students as my own children which makes it easier for me to connect with them. Happiness for me is my students doing well and succeeding in their respective lives,” he said.
West Siang deputy director of secondary education Duken Kato said Sora who has been a dedicated and honest individual throughout his professional life thoroughly deserves the award.
“His performance and popularity among the students and other teachers prove that he is a deserving candidate for the award. He has contributed immensely to the education sector of the state in his 34-year-long career,” Kato said.
The purpose of the National Award to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country.
The award also aims to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
