Itanagar: The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) of the Arunachal police has arrested four more government officials over alleged illegal appointments of primary teachers and other staff members within the education department in Changlang district.
The case, registered under sections 120(B)/420/409/468/471 IPC R/W Sec. 13(2) PC Act, 1988, (pertaining to illegal appointment of primary teachers and other staffs in the Changlang education department), was initiated following complaints filed by district-based student unions and community-based organizations.
A case was officially registered at the SIC (Vigilance) on August 17, 2023.
SIC (Vigilance) superintendent of police Anant Mittal said the arrests were made after meticulous scrutiny of documents, interrogation of suspects, and technical analysis.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Lamaung Mossang (44) who was serving as an upper division clerk-cum-accountant, Chaipot Techai (52) a trained graduate teacher (BEO), Lomkam Rekhung (47) and lower division clerk and Likkem Tangha (58) an UDC-cum-cashier.
All the individuals belong to Changlang and were serving in the office of the Changlang DDSE.
The SIC investigation into the illegal appointments is ongoing and all facets of the case are being investigated in detail, the SP said.
