10th CM Sub-Veteran & Veteran State Badminton C’ship set to enthrall Ziro valley

Ziro: The 10th edition of Li-Ning Chief Minister Sub-Veteran and Veteran State Badminton Championship-2023 is poised to kick off in the picturesque Ziro Valley of the Lower Subansiri district on November 22.

Organized by the Lower Subansiri Badminton Association (LSBA) under the aegis of the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA), the four-day sporting spectacle will feature 206 players from across the state participate in 246 matches across 15 diverse events, all unfolding on three meticulously prepared courts.

Tournament director and ASBA COC secretary, Penya Bagra, stated that the championship, a consistent fixture in the regional badminton calendar, has, as in previous years, attracted participants from across the state, showcasing their skills in various age categories.

“This tournament not only fosters healthy competition but also serves as a platform for veteran athletes to mentor emerging talent in the region,” he added.

Tournament Categories

Tournament organizing chairman, N L Togu, mentioned that the organizing committee has meticulously planned to ensure the seamless execution of the championship, with all three courts prepared for the high-stakes matches during the four-day event.

Spectators can anticipate intense competition as players vie for top honors in categories ranging from singles to mixed doubles, Togu noted.

Organizing secretary, Hano Hallang, emphasized that the championship aims to promote badminton at both grassroots and veteran levels, focusing on physical fitness and sportsmanship.

PH Construction managing director, Puna Hinda, a staunch advocate for sports in the state, is expected to inaugurate the championship, which is scheduled to conclude on November 25.
