Man who fled after stealing ₹6.80 lakh from employer nabbed

Naharlagun: A man who fled with an amount of Rs 6.80 lakh from a swimming pool at Midpu near here was arrested by the Papum Pare police on Tuesday.

Paul Debbarma, a native of Agartala was working as the manager of the swimming pool. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by the pool’s owner.

Police said a complaint was received from one Tana Tamar Tara, a resident of Midpu-II on March 23 that Debbarma had fled away with Rs. 6, 80,000/- from his swimming pool. A case under section 406 of the Indian Penal Code was accordingly registered at the Doimukh police station.

Following the registration of the case, Doimukh SDPO Bomken Basar under the close supervision of Papum Pare SP Dr Neelam Nega formed a team comprising of sub-inspector Balkar Singh, head constable T D Goiba and constables M Thapa and H Dutta to trace out Debbarma, police said.

The team raided various locations in Shillong and finally arrested him with the help of the Meghalaya police on Tuesday.

Debbarma admitted his guilt following questioning by the police officials. He was produced before the Yupia Court that sent him to 2 days of police custody.

SP Nega has appealed to the local entrepreneurs and business community to get the character antecedents of an individual checked before employing them.
