Arunachal Speaker P D Sona re-elected as CPA chairman

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh state legislative assembly speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona has been re-elected as the chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III for the second term.

The decision was taken at the joint meeting of the executive committee of CPA India Region Zone-III on Wednesday.

Sona was elected as chairman of the (CPA) India Region Zone-III for the first time in January 2021.

Addressing the executive meeting, Sona extended his gratitude to all the speakers of CPA India Region Zone III for reposing their trust and faith in him to lead the association for the second term.

“I am truly humbled and honoured to be re-elected as the CPA India Region (Zone-III) chairman. I accept the responsibility with humility and would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the members for reposing their faith in me and entrusting me with the responsibilities for two more years. I look forward to working towards better regional cooperation and development,” Sona said.

Stating that the objectives of the CPA are to promote knowledge of the constitutional, legislative, economic, social and cultural aspects of parliamentary democracy, Sona urged upon all the participating speakers for their equal contribution for the association.

The executive members, during the meeting, also discussed ways and means to improve the activities of North East Region Institute of Parliamentary Studies & Research (NERIPSTR). They shared their views and ideas which were taken into consideration for further discussion in the next sitting.
