Arunachal not a part of Rahul Gandhi’s idea of India: Rijiju

Itanagar: Taking a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his ‘Gujarat to West Bengal’ remark, Union law minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said that the North East including Arunachal Pradesh is not part of his idea of India.

Rijiju was reacting to Gandhi’s recent “there is strength in our Union” tweet.

“There is strength in our Union. Our Union of Cultures. Our Union of Diversity. Our Union of Languages. Our Union of People. Our Union of States,” Gandhi had said in his tweet on Thursday. From Kashmir to Kerala. From Gujarat to West Bengal. India is beautiful in all its colours. Don’t insult the spirit of India,” Gandhi had said in a tweet on Thursday.

Rijiu who also represents the Arunachal West constituency in the present Lok Sabha in his reply to Gandhi said: “For Shri Rahul Gandhi, India ends at West Bengal! The North East part of India, including my beautiful State of Arunachal Pradesh is not part of his idea of India.”

Gandhi’s statement hasn’t been well received by the twitterati with several questioning him if he does not consider the North East, especially Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of India.

“You don’t consider North East India to be a part of India,@RahulGandhi Ji? North East India was given in the hands of China in 1962 by the former Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru. Maybe that’s why you don’t consider North East to be a part of India,” tweeted @DipankarHandi14.

“Mr Rahul Gandhi According to you India ended in East at West Bengal It means Arunanchal Pradesh is not Part of our Beautiful India Ur tweet shows your thinking Ur tweet shows your reality That u don’t consider Arunanchal and other neighbouring states as part of India,” another user @Navneet42090994 said.

“From Gujarat to West Bengal, kya Rahulji north east (Arunachal Pradesh) ko Bharat ka hissa nahi mante?” Gautam Singh questioned in his reply to Gandhi’s tweet.
