Itanagar MLA’s son killed after being hit by train

Itanagar: A 35-year-old youth was killed after being hit by a train near Tigdo village in Papum Pare district on Tuesday. The deceased, who has been identified as Techi Takar, is the son of Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso.

Police said Takar’s lifeless body was recovered from the railway track near Tigdo village on Wednesday morning.

“During preliminary investigation we had a telephonic conversation with the locomotive pilot who was driving the train and he has acknowledged the train hitting the youth. He is presently out of station but has been called here so that his statement can be recorded ,” Doimukh police station officer-in-charge Inya Ete said.

Ete said a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has for now been registered at the Doimukh police station. Also Read: 2 Sentenced life imprisonment in APRB cashier murder case

Section 174 of the CrPC provides for preparation of inquest report in case a person has committed suicide, or has been murdered or killed by an animal, machinery or in an accident, or has died under suspicious circumstances.

The body of the youth was handed over to his family members after a post mortem.
