Arunachal: Saint Claret College observes Fresher’s Meet

Founded in 2003, the SCCZ is an undergraduate college run by the Claretian Missionaries.

Ziro: Upholding its tradition, the Saint Claret College, Ziro (SCCZ) on Thursday organized its Fresher’s Meet for the first year students at the college auditorium here.

The theme of the event this year was “Novel Adventure”.

More than 350 students who have enrolled themselves at the college for the 2022-2023 academic session attended the meet and showcased their talents. 

Following various competitive rounds, Likha Yanam from the political science department and Tibom Tekwa from the department of geography were adjudged Miss and Mr Fresher’s respectively.

Earlier in his address, SCCZ principal Rev Fr Allwyn Mendoz congratulated the students on their successful enrolment for the bachelor’s degree in the college and wished them best.

He also exhorted the newcomers to maintain liveliness to achieve success in their lives.

“Treat every day as Fresher’s day and do not let staleness creep into your lives as it might disturb your progress,” he told the students.

While stressing the importance of college life, Rev Allwyn said the phase that the new students have embarked on will define their careers and having a passion to learn new things will help them achieve new heights in their lives.

The first year students were also welcomed by their respective departmental heads and seniors.

Founded in 2003, the SCCZ is an undergraduate college run by the Claretian Missionaries, a Roman Catholic Order founded by St Anthony Mary Claret.

The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar and is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

SCCZ offers Bachelor of Arts and Commerce, B A in Mass Communication and several other certificate courses.
